The Authorities have let Ashtiani go home, but it is unclear whether that is because she has been freed or if they’re trying to get another “taped confession”. Read about it here in The Guardian.

The article also has some shocking facts on the Death Penalty in Iran. They are second country (China being the first, naturally) in the world for the number of people they have executed in recent years. The exact number of executions last year was 388; that many lost their life to Capital Punishment last year. Most were hanged.
Right now ten women and four men are on Death Row waiting to be stoned to death. One of the women, Azar Bagheri, is as young as 19 years old.

Update: Turns out Ashtiani’s not free. She was sent home so they could make a so-called “TV confession”, which was a re-enactment for the supposed crime, where her son was forced to play the father. Read about it in this article.

New Update: Azar Nafisi, author of “Reading Lolita in Teheran”, has written an article on Iran’s situation.
