I’ve just recently saw this video and thought it was unsually smart and well done. I’m pretty fond of Courtney love’s music. This song is okey, but the video reminded me of the tradition of doing feministic re-telling of old fairy tales. I also thought that Love was trying to empower the image of little girls.
What do you guys think, is this video feministic or just suprisingly sympathetic to women/girls?

Bra låt och kreativ video. Jag håller med dig. Den känns väldigt girlpower! 🙂
väldigt fin låt men svårt att veta vad allt visuell betyder..men otroligt intresand och nyskapande..vill see mer..
Not sure what Love is up to here. Using the fairy tale and the young girls is a way of impowering what is considered unimportant and lower in the heirarchy (girls and fairys are just fluff and nonsense). But not sure other than the weapons given the young girls what Love is thinking of. And the Snow white glass coffin puts me into another question. What do you think is up with this.
And By the way– I love Courtney and her “in your face” positioning!

I think the glass coffin is small tribute to PJ Harvey (which is court’s favourite artist so she says).
In PJ harvey’s song “Herdly wait” theres a repeating line that goes : “In my glass coffin I am waiting”….Which can mean a lot of things. apperantly Love was waiting for some faeries..
Hi!
Just listened to PJ Harvey’s “Hardly wait”. I agree with you, Love most likely did a tribute to the song and artist by using a glass coffin.
Didn’t know about this artist till now! Thank you! Doesn’t surprise me Love likes PJ Harveys music. It has the same type of “desperate woman” feel to it as well as a nice touch of “determined, independent woman” to it as well.
I think PJ Harvey meant that she’s waiting for some form of liberation and happiness to come along. Love was as waiting for some fairies to help her continue her everlasting sleep 🙂
Really liked “Hardly wait”. I’ll embed the song here below:
Really happy you told about her, Manu! Thank you again. And for your analys of Love’s video!
